Purchase of the boat
In early April, another important investment for the project was completed – a purchase of an equipped boat. The boat was necessary for the project due to the fact that a large part of the work will be carried out at sea. Tasks to be performed during the voyages of the boat are: the issuance, maintenance, and removal of the C- Pods with buoys, sinkers, as well as the removal of fishing nets; underwater vehicle use and the observation for the presence of marine mammals.
The boat is less than 8 m long and 2,5 m width, made of fiberglass. It is equipped with a diesel engine with a capacity of 54 hp enabling to achieve speed of over 8 knots. The boat has a class IV rob BKM op n, in accordance with the guidelines of the PRS for naval units. It can take up to 6 people and an additional cargo. The unit has a relatively large working deck area of 7 m2, which is necessary to carry out the planned activities. It is also equipped with a loading crane allowing the display of goods overboard to be used for displaying the ballast with the C- PODs. The hydraulic winch was installed to pull out the lost ghost nets.
The boat is equipped with navigational tools and emergency signaling and it follows the regulations for navigate at sea. These include radio, radar, ecoprobe and GPS with a sea area map of the SPN, and a multifunctional indicator with touch screen that allows you to view the location of the boat. On the boat there are pieces of equipment such as ship bell mad of brass, daily signs (sphere, cone), horn, parachute, smoke buoy, radar reflector, GPS radio-buoy, radar transponder. In addition, the unit has the equipment for the crew in the form of protective suits, lifejackets, inflatable life jackets, compass, hand held probe, stopwatch, binoculars.
