Work at sea

Recently, we started working at sea using boats purchased in the project. So far, we made several trips during which we fulfilled the tasks set up in the project. One of the tasks is to monitor underwater penetration of the seabed in search of abandoned ghost-nets which constitute a serious threat to marine mammals. For this task we used the underwater vehicle operated from the deck of a boat. The vehicle is equipped with an underwater camera, which makes possible to record movies. In addition, during patrols at sea from the deck of a boat we are looking out for marine mammals emerging from the water.Also we localize distribution of fishing nets in marine waters of SNP. During the offshore activities we plan to service hydro-acoustic porpoise detectors, so called C-PODS.
