Conference closing the project

The conference closing the project was held on 24-25 November 2016 in Jastrzębia Góra. "Protecting the habitat of grey seal (Halichoerus CARP), and harbour porpoise (Phocoena phocoena) in the area of Słowiński National Park". The conference was attended by numerous guests, including people involved in the protection of marine mammals and the environment of the Baltic Sea, the maritime and self-government administration, as well as representatives of the scientific units and employees of Słowiński National Park.

During the first day of the conference, the topics related mainly to marine mammals and the environment of the Baltic Sea. The first speaker, Ms. Iwona Psuty, representing the Sea Fishing Institute, discussed the management method of the Baltic Sea. Mr. Radomił Koza presented the results of the acoustic research of Professor Skóra Marine Station IO UG, carried out in the years 2009-2014, concerning the detection of harbour porpoises. Mr. Mariusz Miotke from the Regional Environment Directorate in Gdańsk told about the environmental impact assessment for the wind power plants on the Baltic Sea in the context of the presence of grey seal and harbour porpoise. At the end of the first day, Mr. Leszek Schiefelbein presented the summary and the preliminary results of the project. "Protecting the habitat of grey seal (Halichoerus CARP), and harbour porpoise (Phocoena phocoena) in the area of Słowiński National Park".

Ms. Agnieszka Hylla-Wawryniuk from WWF Poland started the second day of the lectures, and presented the data about the observation of marine mammals on the Polish coast. The next interesting topic was covered in a lecture concerning the landing control presented by Mr. Thomasz Łuczkiewicz from the District Sea Fisheries Inspectorate in Słupsk. The last lecture of Mr. Maciej Kwiatkowski from Professor Skóra Maritime Station IO UG related to the resources and protection of fish living in two environments and lampreys. After each lecture, there was time for discussions during which the participants asked questions and shared their suggestions and experiences. At the end, the participants were given a questionnaire in which they could evaluate the conference. In addition, all participants received the project promoting materials.
