Continuous monitoring of marine mammals – detectors service.

Within the monitoring of marine mammals, we serviced hydroacoustic detectors, so-called C-POD, on 8 September 2016, due to favourable weather. The services involved the replacement of batteries and memory cards. We secured the saved data, and then provided for further analysis for the presence of harbour porpoises. Most serviced C-PODs were covered with sea crustaceans leading sedentary lifestyle, i.e. barnacles, which made the work slightly more difficult. We continue the monitoring of marine mammals from the shore and from the boat.

We are still looking for detectors and buoys that were lost without any possibility of being located as a result of strong wind. We suspect that the set elements could have been moved even at a significant distance from the borders of the Park.
