Completion of the project
On 30 April 2017, the project” “Protection of the habitats of a grey seal (Halichoerus carp), and a porpoise (Phocoena phocoena) in the area of the Słowiński National Park” was completed. Within the implementation of the project, the following activities were carried out:
- Monitoring the presence of marine mammals, mainly a grey seal and a porpoise, through patrols walking on the beach and from boats, and radio monitoring of porpoises with hydroacoustic detectors.
- Organisation of 2 conferences, meetings with fishermen and seminars for school children in order to raise awareness of the participants in the field of biology and the protection of marine organisms with emphasis on marine mammals.
- Localisation of obstacles present on the bottom of the Baltic Sea, including mainly fishing nets.
- Localisation of potential barriers of anthropogenic origin for marine mammals in the SNP area of the sea.
- Development of the location maps of threats to marine mammals, and the use of the Baltic Sea within the boundaries of the park by marine mammals.
